Humor

The New Drug Talk

Laughter really can be the best medicine, especially when it comes to stress relief! Humor can help us cope with everyday life stressors, along with the worst days by getting us out of a funk and into a fit of laughter.

Using Humor To Manage Stress And Stay Positive

Make sure you know who you can rely on for a good laugh – whether it be a sibling, friend, your favorite comedian, or a tv show – have them at the ready when life gets to be too much. Call up that person or put on that show and allow yourself to laugh and lighten up.

The New Drug Talk

Laughing has a bigger impact on our mental health than we think, here are some things you may not have known about the power of laughter:

  • It releases endorphins, reducing stress and promoting well-being

  • Decrease anger and can ease conflicts

  • It acts as a release for negative emotions such as sadness, anxiety, and grief

  • Brings joy and happiness to daily life and it is contagious!

Humor can also be a creative means to cope. Many people have found practicing comedy, going to open mic nights, and writing jokes to be therapeutic.
